US to bomb Syria based on intercepted phone calls?! Syria blames US backed "rebels"

Israeli intelligence 'intercepted Syrian regime talk about chemical attack': Information passed to US by Israeli Defence Forces' 8200 unit, former official tells magazine

The bulk of evidence proving the Assad regime's deployment of chemical weapons – which would provide legal grounds essential to justify any western military action – has been provided by Israeli military intelligence, the German magazine Focus has reported.
Intercepted call ‘proves Syria used chemical weapons’
An intercepted phone call between Syrian officials in the wake of the alleged chemical weapons attack on August 21 convinced Washington that the country’s government was behind the massacre, according to Foreign Policy magazine.
Okay, what was this phone call about?
“Last Wednesday, in the hours after a horrific chemical attack east of Damascus, an official at the Syrian Ministry of Defence exchanged panicked phone calls with a leader of a chemical weapons unit, demanding answers after a nerve gas strike killed more than 1,000 people,” Foreign Policy said on Tuesday.
That's it?

That's the incontrovertible proof to bomb, bomb, bomb Syria?  Seriously?

All that conversation proves is that a high level Syrian official wanted to find out whether a rogue member of their government may have done this.  This Syrian guy was investigating this war crime, unlike the US, who has been bullying the UN not to investigate this war crime.  Funny, that.

The Israelis claim to have concentrated their snooping capabilities on Syria, but all they can mine from the metadata to pin this chemical attack on Syria is a phone call by an official after the chemical attack occurred demanding answers?

Is that telephone call the main reason the US is basing its decision to start a war with Syria without Congressional approval, which is illegal?

The US magazine, which specialises in international relations, claims the intercepted phone call is “the major reason why American officials now say they're certain that the attacks were the work of the Bashar al-Assad regime - and why the U.S. military is likely to attack that regime in a matter of days”.
Whoa, cellie!
“Was the attack on August 21 the work of a Syrian officer overstepping his bounds? Or was the strike explicitly ordered by senior members of the Assad regime?” asked the magazine.

An unnamed US intelligence official admitted that it is still unclear exactly what led to the decision to use chemical weapons.

"We don't know exactly why it happened," the intelligence official told Foreign Policy. "We just know it was pretty f***ing stupid."

"We don't know exactly why it happened" That is an understatement.  The point is that they don't know, which makes it double unconscionable that the US was pressuring the UN not to investigate and was disparaging the credibility of the UN.
Foreign Policy pointed out, US intelligence agencies are still yet to find the evidence “traditionally considered to be the gold standard in chemical weapons cases: soil, blood, and other environmental samples that test positive for reactions with nerve gas”.
Uh, huh, which is why they should not react to this war crime until after it is thoroughly investigated by the UN.

Couple this sketchy intel with the US bullying the UN not to investigate, and it appears we are headed for yet another war based on meadow muffins, to put it mildly.

No wonder the warmongers want to start this war illegally, without Congressional approval.  No wonder 91% of Americans do not want this war.

No wonder the warmongers don't want the UN to investigate and are knocking the credibility of the UN, just like they trashed Hans Blix, who was right about there being no WMDs in Iraq.
