Kerry's speech was unconvincing and inaccurate

Kerry conspicuously left out how the UK parliament said Nay to war with Syria.  

Kerry claimed that Syria was blamed for past chemical attacks, but this is untrue according to a UN investigation.

Carla Del Ponte, Member of Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic:

During our investigation for crimes against humanity and war crimes, we collect some witness testimony that made to appear that some chemical weapons were used, in particular, nerve gas, and what appears to our investigation, that was used by the opponents, by the rebels, and we have no indication at all that the government, that the Syrian government used chemical weapons.... I was a little bit stupefied that the first indication we got... they were about the use of nerve gas by the opponents.

Kerry claimed that intel proves Assad was behind the August 21 chemical attack, but this intel is based on a sketchy phone call:

The bulk of evidence proving the Assad regime's deployment of chemical weapons – which would provide legal grounds essential to justify any western military action – has been provided by Israeli military intelligence, the German magazine Focus has reported.

Intercepted call ‘proves Syria used chemical weapons’

An intercepted phone call between Syrian officials in the wake of the alleged chemical weapons attack on August 21 convinced Washington that the country’s government was behind the massacre, according to Foreign Policy magazine.

And just what was this phone call about?

“Last Wednesday, in the hours after a horrific chemical attack east of Damascus, an official at the Syrian Ministry of Defence exchanged panicked phone calls with a leader of a chemical weapons unit, demanding answers after a nerve gas strike killed more than 1,000 people,” Foreign Policy said on Tuesday.

Folks, we should not bomb, bomb, bomb Syria based on a high level Syrian official trying to get answers about the chemical attack.  Note that the Syrian official wanted it investigated, unlike the USA, who tried to intimidate the UN not to investigate it.

And as for the moral high ground and the need for swift retribution before this war crime is thoroughly investigated:

The USA has deployed an atomic bomb twice in Japan.  The USA deployed Agent Orange and napalm in Viet Nam.  The USA has deployed depleted uranium bombs in Iraq which have caused cancer and horrific birth defects, and white phosphorous, which burned the skin off children to the bone, an abhorrently painful way to die.

Now the USA is going to pre-empt the UN chemical weapons investigation, which they have disparaged just like they dissed Hans Blix, who was right that there were no WMDs in Iraq, and bomb Syria.

The propagandists are trying to steer us away from noticing the similarities between how they hyped the Iraq Invasion and how they are now hyping this imminent War with Syria, which they will wage with or without the consent of the US Congress, which would clearly be illegal.  

The warmongering PTB called Iraq, a "cake walk," and now call this war with Syria, a "limited strike." 

Some of the same special interests are egging on this war with Syria just as they egged on the war with Iraq, and some of the same politicians are for this war in Syria, before they will be against it, but the American people are no longer naive.

Only 9% of Americans support bombing Syria.

The UK voted against bombing Syria.

The fact that the warmongers are steam rolling this war before the UN reports back on their investigation and that the US intimidated the UN not to investigate speaks volumes on the weakness of their case.

In his press appearance Monday, Secretary of State John Kerry, who intervened with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon to call off the investigation, dismissed the U.N. investigation as coming too late to obtain valid evidence on the attack that Syrian opposition sources claimed killed as many 1,300 people.

After the deal was announced on Sunday, however, Kerry pushed Ban in a phone call to call off the investigation completely.

The Wall Street Journal reported the pressure on Ban without mentioning Kerry by name. It said unnamed “U.S. officials” had told the secretary-general that it was “no longer safe for the inspectors to remain in Syria and that their mission was pointless.”
But Ban, who has generally been regarded as a pliable instrument of U.S. policy, refused to withdraw the U.N. team and instead “stood firm on principle”, the Journal reported. He was said to have ordered the U.N. inspectors to “continue their work”.

I hope our Congress will show the democratic brio of the UK Parliament and listen to their constituents who do not want a war with Syria and stop this latest war locomotive before it leaves the station.  Sadly, too many of our Congress critters are afraid of and beholden to special interest lobbies many of whom work for global companies and foreign nations, not the American people, who they are supposed to serve.
